Over the last week or so I ordered a Scandinavian Bench Screw from Adjustable Clamp Company for a wagon vise I’m building for my in-progress, Ruobo/New-Fangled cross workbench and a Nicholson No. 49 Patternmaker’s Rasp from Lie-Nielsen to help with some cabriole’ish legs I’m shaping for a coffee table I’m building for my niece.
While I’m waiting for those things to be delivered Mother Nature has decided to smile on me and the snows have stopped and the accumulated snow is melting so now I need to get back in the shop and get all the pieces for the coffee table made and get some more pieces of my benchtop glued up.
I can’t wait to have my shop all put back together and fully functional!

So if you’ve had the misfortune of visiting my site in IE you’ve probably noticed a huge, gapping, blank, white space in the center column of the site above my latest posts. I’ll spare you the technical explanation of what I did to finally resolve it, but I am glad to announce the white space is gone in IE. Well, at least IE7. I don’t have IE 6 available for testing currently. While we’re on the topic of IE, let me also take this chance to recommend you take a look at Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome as alternatives to IE. The plain and simple truth is that IE sucks and there are far superior options out there.
Ok, enough of my techno-preaching.
While fixing my site and answering a twitter question about my site I decided to get my RSS feed working again. So you’ll notice that in the upper-right there is an option now to add the RSS feed from my site to your favorite RSS reader. My rants and random thoughts aren’t always woodworking related, but hopefully they at least provide the occasional laugh.

I just picked up a new fret saw from Woodcraft to help clear out the majority of the waste when hand cutting dovetails. I still need to get used to it, but my initial impression is that I really like it.
Here is a quick video showing my first run with this saw. Keep in mind this is right out of the package and I have never used one of these before. I removed the audio track from the video because my propane heater makes it sound like I am filming this at Niagara Falls and you can’t hear anything I say. Take a look.
